Jun.  16 & 17, 2001 Experience the recreation of military life on the frontier at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park south of Mandan.Demonstrations include cavalry, infantry and artillery drills as well as a glimpse at the lives of the post laundresses and other camp followers.
Mandan Rodeo Days Jul. 1-4, 2001 Watch the largest amateur rodeo in the world with over 600 of the region's top cowboys and cowgirls vying for over $50,000 in prize money. In addition, take in the parade, Art in the Park, or the annual variety show.

United Tribes International Pow-Wow Sept.  6-9, 2001 One of the largest Native American cultural events in the nation. This colorful pageant includes dancers competing from 30 tribes throughout the country and has been named one of the American Bus Association’s top 100 events four times. The event includes the Miss Indian Nations Pageant, parade, and United Tribes softball tournament.
International Indian Arts Exposition Sept. 8-9, 2001 Featuring the nation's top American Indian artists from across the United States and Canada in traditional and contemporary art, song, music, dance and storytelling
YMCA Marathon Sept. 9, 2001 North Dakota’s only major marathon that attracts runners from all over the US and Canada.The marathon course offers a scenic view through the Missouri River area.
Ride the River Sept. 9, 2001 Participate in the Bismarck Tribune's annual bike and boat trip from Bismarck to Fort Abraham Lincoln.
Folkfest Sept. 10-16, 2001 Join one of the American Bus Association’s top 100 events. Pride of Dakota Holiday Showcase Dec. 1-2, 2001 The promoting and selling of North Dakota products for the holidays in Bismarck Civic Center.
Fantasy of Lights Parade Dec. 7, 2001 Celebrate the Christmas season with Bismarck-Mandan’s only nighttime parade.  Christmas floats and lights parade begins at Avenue C and proceeds down 5th Street.
Christmas in the Park Dec. 1-29, 2001 Drive through a Christmas wonderland with lighted trees and displays in Bismarck’s Sertoma Park .
Custer Christmas Dec. 8 & 9, 2001 Guests can tour the General George Custer home decorated for the holidays and then take a sleigh ride around Cavalry Square at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.  On Sunday, visitors can take part in a buffalo burger buffet in the afternoon as well as a traditional Christmas feast in the evening followed with entertainment.
