For the Warrior
By
Wayne Quam
What
the future holds
No one can know,
So God gave us
children
To watch their
lives unfold.
Our love we gave
An example to
see
And we
lengthened the leash
Until you broke
free.
You've gone your
own way
Made
a life, left the nest.
But your time
with us
It was the best.
Then the nation
called,
And off you
went,
Counting the
cost,
Knowing the
intent.
There's danger
out there
That we want to
ignore.
Now you're in
harms way,
Now you are off
to war.
We'll pray for
you
Your Mother and
I,
God grant you
safe passage
Through the line
of fire.
